35 hp Vacuum Hose

I have a 1980 Johnson 35 hp. There are three hoses in the area of the fuel pump, two for fuel and a third hose that goes from the block (were the fuel pump mounts) to the intake manifold. It looks original and cracked. I assume it is the vacuum hose which drives the pump diaphram. If it leaks, the pump would not provide enough fuel and then the engine would be fuel starved??? I can't find the hose on any exploded diagram or parts lists. Any thoughts on my conclusions? If I take the hose to a dealer do they sell it in bulk and that is why it (and the fuel hoses) does not show up on diagrams and parts lists? Thanks. My engine problems are cutting into my fishin' time!

If it leaks I would expect a good amount of grief. Insufficient fuel, and an air leak into your crankcase.

I don't think there is a hose connecting fuel pump to by-pass cover. I think the fuel pump mounts directly to the by-pass cover. If yours has that hose, it may have been a replacement that someone chose to use.

My bad - Mech. inclined, outboard in-experienced. The fuel pump mounts directly to the by-pass cover and gets its vacuum through a port in the cover. So what is the hose that runs from the by-pass cover back to the in-take manifold? What happens if it leaks?

Hose between bypass cover and intake manifold is the crankcase drain hose. If it leaks, it makes a mess. That's all.
