35 HP 3 Cyl Waterpump

I had a quick search but could't find problem.<br />I have just replaced my water pump for the 2nd time and it has gone again.<br />Replaced water pump 2 weeks ago tested with muffs went perfect went fishing flushed when got home went out this morning to give it a run before fishing put muffs on plenty of hose pressure no water out tell tail and got hot suspect as pump has gone again as this is what happened last time any suggestion before I go back to the boatshop.

Welcome Mac!<br /><br />What happened with the last impeller? Was it chewed up?

Yes it was and wrecked the pump. Replaced complete pump

Somethings not right. When you install the lower is the water tube fully inserted and lined up? You said that you ruined more than one pump. Did you find all of the shed blades and large rubber pieces when you did the service? Any stray parts of the impeller will block water flow. Are you overtightning the pump housing when reinstalling? Just some things to check that would cause the new pump to fail prematurely.

Thanks for the advice the first time it went I had the waterpump done when it was serviced at the boatshop<br />but it had been to the autoeletric shop so I thought they had run it without water.I did the 2nd 1 myself at the boatshop under his guidance as he is a mate of mine and showed me what to do and didn't charge me labour.I am a bit mistified would I be better to get a drum to run it in. Do muffs cause this type of problem. I need to get afix as Iam hoping to tow it 5 hours away at Easter for some hopefully great fihing. I think I will take it back to the boat shop and get them to sort it.

Went to the boatshop he tested it and pump worked didn't have muffs on properly, missed first calm fishing day for a month and looked a fool. Never to old to learn
