hi take a look around the carbs , if this was the bottom bleeder hose there is one that goes from the top bearing to the the bottom and aids in lubrication to these bearings , but check your engine over carefully and you should find the other end that the hose was attached to,if you leave it open it will just spray oil and gas all over the inside of your cowling and engine and make a mess plus it shouldn't be left open to at. hope this helps and good luck!

On my friend's 20HP 1978, it goes bottom to middle, then middle (behind strater on block, Tee fitting)...From there, another goes to to the front (intake box to reeds).
I had to replace it,and used weeedeater fuel line. It has the smae I.D.,but way smaller O.D. It goes shortest distance, hugging the block.

One other thing,Shematic...The front fitting on his,was removed,as I thought it had closed-up with varnish. Well, it wasn't. It has a brass filling with a very small hole in the center.
Just thought you would like to know before attempting to "drill the obstruction out",as I did
I quit in time, noticing how shiny it was LOL.
