3.7 idle speed?

any one know what the ide speed should be on a 88 165? should this be done in nutral? i think i was told its 750. If i went down lower for trolling can it cause problems? thnks

When in troll mode, you will have a load on it, that will slow the idle.

I realize that. but im not sure what it should be at at idle, i have a older merc manual and it says 750 in forward gear wich i dont know is correct for my boat year .

All the 3.7 engines are speced at 750 in forward gear , unhindered.... Ie not tied up to a jetty.

thnks Chris for explaining that. Imported coors you replied to my carberator problem on another post and was wondering what u thought (screw at 3 1/2 out.)

Not familiar with a 3.7, but it seems that 11/2 to 2 turns is what I've read.
