Mid 90's 3.0 mercruiser in a 185 bayliner. I put it in the lake for the first time yesterday and drove 4 miles from the launch to my dock. Started right up and ran fine. Tried to take it out later in the evening, and again this morning, but now it won't start. It cranks fine and has gas making it into the carb but won't start. Gas is fresh. Suggestions? Seems ignition related but I am not an ignition expert and don't know where to start. All fuses are good. Nothing was touched or fiddled with between when it ran fine yesterday and now when it won't start...

Welcome aboard
Do you have a kill switch on the boat, by the throttle control?

Yup. It is in the run position.

Engine sn is 0F552931 if that helps. Sticker says "digital electronic ignition system."

Many times those switches can be in the run position and still not work. First, check for spark, if no spark, you need to do some voltage checks on the engine to see if you have ignition power from the switch. Easiest place is on the purple wire on the electric choke. If you have battery voltage there, it's time to start troubleshooting the ignition system.

Well I went down to start checking voltages on the ignition and I gave it a try and it started right up. It was a nice surprise but I've kinda lost confidence in this thing. I will probably go through the wiring anyways to see if there is anything obviously wrong.
