3.0 Mercruiser 2007 Throttle Cable Adjustment Help

Have a 2005 Sea Ray 180 Sport
New Engine was installed in 2007, 3.0 Mercruiser, only has 55 hours on it.

Getting ratcheting/clicking sound when shifting into forward gear.

Boat runs perfect and does shift into gear after the short clicking sound. After doing a bunch of research it seems like the cable needs to be adjusted. I don't have the full service manual or I wouldn't be asking.

Trying to avoid a stop at the boat yard just for this adjustment. Can anyone help me out or steer me somewhere that can walk me through it? I'm a newer do-it-yourselfer when it comes to boating. Drive fluid changed, no signs of water or metal. Would like to learn without just dropping $ to get it fixed, but I know if it's not fixed it will lead to a bigger problem...

Throttle cable has nothing to do with shifting.
Adj for WOT at WOT.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, my fault I was naming the throttle cable when it's obviously the shift cable.

So I have one response that says I need a new cable, and one that says to adjust it at WOT. I found instructions on the forum to adjust out of the water which I'll try. If that doesn't work I guess I may have to bring it in. Replacing a shift cable doesn't seem to be an easy job if you don't have the tools and some experience.
