I'm replacing my 1992 115 HP 3.0L Mercruiser block due to water freeze damage. I hastily pulled out the camshaft out of the old block before checking for a timing mark on the fiber camshaft timing gear. I never saw one without any mark like this factory installed one.
Now I'm installing it in my new block and I think I have it right. How can I be sure? When the crankshaft gear mark is lined up in the best fitting camshaft teeth, the mounting holes for the camshaft is exactly centered.
Seems right, any ideas?
Thanks, Herb
