Acetone has less surface tension than water and will seep through finer cracks than water.

I've always used varsol for this this. Acetone is pretty expensive here. Its like using laquer thinner.

Oil after running 15 min with the swapped engine... I can't win... When I ran it last week didn't seem to have any water in the oil

Are you test running the engine before installing it? I would test an unknown engine before installing it.

Yup on the garage floor Makin milk. Figured out why the kid got the boat the motor is outof for dfree...
