270/280 question

I bought a drive from an online shop I will not say which one. It came with a 6 month warranty. Well I have a 270 and they sent me a 280. The ujoints and yoke look the same. Can I use the 280 with the 270 bellhousing?

I have verified that it is geared the same way.

Do you have power trim? Hydraulic?

I'm going to make some assumptions hers. I assume when you say the ujoints are the same, you also mean the yoke that goes onto the shaft in the flywheel cover has the same number of splines. I also assume that neither has trim. Now, the only thing that can be a problem is how the helmet connects to the top gear box of the drive.
There are 3 different methods of connecting the helmet to the gear box, look at them, they MUST be the same, and they are not interchangable. I't fixable if you still have your old drive, but it will take a certified tech to change the clamp ring.

The drive is on. The drive was a 270 but had a 280 shift shield.... then sent the wrong one by mistake and so I checked the serial and it is a 270... So no worries. the aq131 and 270 switch is just about done. I do have one question how do I make sure that the engine alignment is all set?
