What would be a very rough guess a shop would charge if I pulled the 2 engines and dropped it off for a new transom. Assume the stringers and floor are good.

Secondly, on the large cabin cruisers when the interior cabin is hard to gut, how does one replace the stringers? Or do they just scrap the boat. Interior looks almost impossible to gut.

This is the sea ray in my sig.

I do know they charge about 90$ an hour.
Maybe oops or yact doc could get you a realy close estimate.

You could do it yourself and get off way cheaper.

I have a herniated L5 disc and spending hours hunched over in an engine bay is not an option.

79 26' ray..Rough guess @ $95/hr ..too much..You Might get estimates from 1500 for a localized repair..up to 4+ on a full blown tie in/cut back stringers rebuild..

Without pics Its real hard to narrow it down cost wise..

Professional resto work on a boat with those motors is throwing good money after bad.

"Purchased at car auction by accident, was forced to take! "

That sounds like my luck... how did that occur?

Re: 26' Searay Transom Replacement???????

Went out to the auction a few days before to look at the inventory. There was a 89' Sea Ray Sundancer 268 there in excellent condition (trust me it was!!!). I am not allowed to bid (dealers only) so a friend of mine who is a dealer bid for me. Someone brought in the same length 26' sea ray that very same morning and I was not there. So my buddy bid on the big blue thinking it was that boat I looked at.

Once he won the bid, you cannot back out, or you will be banned from the auction, so I paid him and accepted my stupidity.

I don;t feel so bad, someone bought the 268 model for $9700.00 and he planned to buff it up a bit and resell for $15k. All I can say is I hope his luck is better than mine.
