I've been looking for a good used tiller motor for my 14' aluminum boat.
I found a deal on a super clean 1987 Mercury 25hp but it don't have tiller steer. Its electric start remote control only. If I can't make it a tiller motor fairly cheaply, its of no use to me.
How feasible is it to convert this to a tiller motor?
What parts have to change? Do any of these parts fit other motors? I've got several 20hp tiller motors from the 1970's if those parts would be of any use?
It seems that all the short shaft tiller motors I find are manual start only, and all the electric start motors are remote control only and long shaft. I need a short shaft electric start tiller motor. The motor in question is a mint condition short shaft remote control motor.
