25hp johnson

i have a 80's motel 25hp and have removed all bolts from lower unit but still can not seperate it, what am i misssing?

Not sure on your year but on my mid 70's 25 hp you have to undo the shifter shaft. On my motor there is a cover on the side of the motor about half way up. Held on by two screws. Remove this palte and under it is the shifter shafts. Remove the bottom bolt so you can seperate the shafts. May have to have the engine in forward to do so.<br /><br />Hope this helps.

hah this is ncshp-radio's girlfriend. he has been banging on the back porch for hours and he finally got it taken apart... should have seen the old gear, nothing left to it!!

ncshp-radio: when you reassemble put some anticorrosive grease on the the driveshaft splines and it won't get stuck up in the crankshaft again. <br /><br />Good luck!
