25hp 1981 pistons

Hi all
i have a 1981 25hp evinrude i remove the head because they put blue silecone between the gasket , in had a small noc on the lower piston on the head
remove the head in rotated the flyweel in find the lower pistion come out about 1/2 a ring more the the top one is that normal or do i have a bad bearing of sorts


2) should one use any kind of sealent on the new head gasket

To check for a bad/loose bearing, turn the flywheel so that the piston has just passed top dead center and is being pulled inwards. Now, push in on the piston with your hand. If it moves inwards and does not move the flywheel/crankshaft, then you've likely got a loose bearing, either on the wrist pin or crankshaft end.
