Hello all, this is my first post on this site....FIRST BOAT!!!! ok this boat is only a 16'6" palm bay pontoon, but it's a 95, same for the 25 hp johnson...little small for the boat i think. but the reason i am here is...it has sat for two years...at least...we were trying to turn it over yesterday we got it to turn over and run...YAAAAY!... then i noticed that there is no water coming through the exhaust...i had the ears placed and water flowing, nothing coming through. anyone have any tips on testing/replacing water pump...it looks like a real pain to get to... is it possible that some bugs may have clogged it with a nest or something, i was hoping to find a downloadable manual for less that 20.00, (free is great) if anyone out there has some good tips (remember this is my first boat!) i live at the beach this is a saltwater boat. I gotta get it goin soon the mackrel are runnin!

o..also i noticed that there is some oil running out of a hole right above the prop ...this cannot be good, and there is some runnin from the prop too....

Given that your motor has sat around for two years, I would work on the assumption that the impeller will need to be replaced. This is an easy maintenance thing, and you can probably find abundant resources on the internet on how to do it properly (I believe there is even a guy who demonstrates how to do it on one of the video sites on the internet).

The oil above the prop is coming from your exhaust, and is not anything to worry about.

Beyond that, there is a great post on the forums about "Awakening a sleeping outboard". It will cover all the basics you may need to address before the motor is ready for prime-time.

Last bit of advice is get yourself an OEM service/repair manual. They might be a little pricey, but well worth the money you will pay.

thanks rick, im reading, looking in service manuals online, hunting down all possibilities with this...esp while it is raining cats and dogs....
