25 hp Mercury

I am going to try to change the impeller on a 88 25hp mercury. Can someone give me some direction?

I prefer North, the weather's warmer.<br /><br />Best direction you could be given is to buy a service manual.

I was trying to not buy a service manual. i am doing this job for a friend as a favor due to lack of money.

I can appreciate the statrement "lack of money". Been there done that. But if you make just one repair using a manual, it has paid for itself. Try Ebay, you might get a good deal on one there.

This should be pretty easy to do without the manual... pull off the lower unit, and the water pump should be visible... just look at how it goes together when you take it off and replace it with the replacement parts... shouldnt be that hard.<br /><br />I would help more, but I dont know the ins and outs of smaller motors in that year range.
