25 hp merc. dies at full throttle

I have a 1999 25hp 4 stroke. It takes some effort to get started and when at full throttle for extended periods ( 10 - 15 MIN), it dies. Then only starts up again after the cover is off and I play with the throttle a little. Any ideas would be helpful.

I have solved this type of problem by making sure the fuel tank is properly vented. I belive it is refered to as vapor lock. If that is not the issue you may want to make sure the motor is not overheating. Good luck, I too am trying to work some kinks out of a 4 stroke merc.

Apparently, the carb was clogged with old gas or something. I took the carb apart and the float bowl was full of junk. I cleaned it out and put it back together and it runs better now. I will keep everyone posted as to future problems
