25 hp evinrude cuts out

I have a 1994 25 hp evinrude I bought new. Lately it cuts out at random. It looses power like it is not getting fuel, then will surge back. I have a 6 gallon plastic tank. When it cuts out I can pump the fuel line bulb to get it going again. This happens with the tank full, half, close to empty. I have replaced the fuel line and cleaned the fuel filter. but it still happens. Then I have days it runs for hours with no problem? Any suggestions?

vent open on tank? have you checked spark when it does it? you have a single carb, so if it were the carb it would effect both cylinders, could be coil failing, or fuel pump starting to fail, also could be curd in the carb bowl.

I do not have a vent on the tank, it does seem to expand in the heat. I have tried to open the top slightly to relieve the pressure, but the motor still has the same problem. I will check the carb and fuel pump. Thanks
