25 evinrude no fire 98 help

motor has been sitting for fall and its hunting season so go to get it out and it has no fire iv checked shut off switch and its working fine all grounds on motor are cleaned and still nothing this is a ele start with tiller handle.... my first guess is to order a cdi box ???? any way to check it or anything else on motor

Are you saying that it is cranking yet not firing?

There is a thread in the FAQs by JB you should read entitled "Outboard Wont Start" and let us know what you find.

What is the model number of the outboard? Is this a triple or a twin. The first thing I would do is unplug the voltage regulator from the stator (two yellow wires) and see if it starts. Follow the trouble shooting steps in the CDI trouble shooting guide for your engine.
