24v trolling motor

I'm hooking up 2 deep cycle battery's for my 24v trolling motor, is it possible to connect my lights,radio to one of the 2 batteries and get 12v

Yes it is. You can get 12 volts from 1 battery.

No, because you can get 12 volts from one battery.

Yes that is true. You can use one of the serried batteries for your 12 volt needs. However, remember that using one will drain that one battery more then the other. And while you are using the trolling motor, if you drain the batteries then you can't crank the engine. Always better to have three batteries if your trolling motor needs 24 volts. Then if/when you do drain the trolling motor batteries, you still have a cranking battery to go home...
