Is in a 1994 VIP,Yamaha 5.7l. Still starts and runs, but bthe lock is definetly cracked, you can see it on the outside of the block. Where can I get a longblock or shortblock for it. Are the blocks any different from automotive blocks? Thanks in advance.

Re: 240 HP cracked block question

1 option would be a GM Goodwrench crate motor for a 1994 Truck........
It's Pretty Close to a Marine block,+ Will Work, with a change of coreplugs(steel to brass).............

Or, a Junkyard Bare Block from a 1988 to 1995 Chevy could be refurbished,+ then install All the parts from Your Motor........

So it doesn't have to be anything special. Will I need to use the same heads that are on there now?
