235hpomc tilt motor

I have a 77 daycruiser regatta,trim rod broke replaced it,still stren would not move only heard clicking.took to shop they said bad motor,replaced it with a 6209 from iboats,it worked alittle,they said bad motor,is ther anything else it could be?with stern disingage moves fine,hook it back up moves down fine rough back up then quits working.broke rod again.I need help please.

Something is out of alignment or worn in the small gearbox that drives the tilt. <br /><br />Could be something as simple as being low on oil.<br /><br />But that is where I would start.<br /><br />TMD

There is an entire clutch mechanism hanging off the side of the intermediate.I
