Re: 220 hp 4.3 vs. 220hp 5.0 - difference?
Yes but I like to have the option to slowly back away without playing with the gas especially in the wind...also the efi always starts in cold weather (snowmobiles) and you can't flood it easily. I always wait at least 20 seconds depending on the equipment and sometimes much longer when you can start it and let it warm up while getting set. I am in Minnesota and warming up is part of life. I swore I wouldn't buy a carbed Mercruiser until I realized how absolutly scarce they are used and new on small bowriders. I saw MPI for sale in southern states much more than here. When I see someone has the option to get MPI, I advocate it.
Any engine will live a longer happier life if it gets warmed up. EFI engines may not seem like they need it but it will last longer if you do warm them up first. I turn my truck on and let it idle for about 20 seconds and then take it easy until it?s properly warmed up. I don?t sit in one spot warming it up because it?s "supposedly" bad for the environment and EFI won?t die like a carb engine.
