Morning Bob, I'll have a look. Most of my pictures were on my cel, which died a nasty death a couple months ago and took most of my data with it. People do a funny thing called "backing up files", something I never seem to get around to....

If I can't find any I'll shoot some more pics this weekend. Anything specific (like attach points or whatever)?

Scary part, if I replace the wood in the stringers it's going to be painful, maybe...

That motor bed meat looks a bit rotten to me and is black in spots. I think it is going to hurt, not maybe.

I'm just in denial :)

Hey Sunny Jim! Nice boat.

As far as the engine mount wood there, I don't think it would be the end of the world to un-rivet those aluminum channels from the hull and replace the wood. I took out the two lowest ribs in the bottom of the bow to get it all cleaned up real good for gluvit. It wasn't that bad a job. Rivets are cheap.

Something I see different about your Holiday from my SS is that the gunnels are a little different. Yours look to have a radius on the top inside. Mine are squared off and two pieces plus an aluminum trim covering the corner. Interesting.

sunny JIM...when you took the side panels off..... was there any type of shelf inside??? I cant see any left on the side of the hull after you removed them...I am wondering if there was a shelf attached to the side panel that came off.

also I just looked and it LOOKS like your bow is a two piece construction...is that correct?

thanks

Yah, not an easy job, at all, but doable. Grunt through it, it'll be worth it in the long run:thumb:

I'd try my best not to remove those rivets to get it out too. Again, doable, but not easy.

Hey folks, almost back in the game. Changed jobs and had to build a house, which kinda interfered with my Starcraft quality time. Should be able to get back at the boat in a few months.

If djpeters and Bob are still around, the answers are:

- Gunnels definitively have a radius on the inside;
- No shelves on the sides;
- The bow has a formed, triangular insert right up front, seems to be a heavier gauge than the rest of the boat.

BTW, I did get the hull flipped and drilled out the motor stringers. The wood was rotten in spots (1.5" plywood!).

Also, learned an irritating lesson during the hull flip. Put a cross brace over the beam (ie gunnel to gunnel) then went about flipping the beast aaaaannd, a number of the pop rivets that hold the gunnel in place let go. They were all corroded. So I have a little bit of bent metal to deal with. Nothing massive, but annoying.

It should be an easy job to replace the stringer meat, you already have the AL cover for them, I had to fabricate the covers for my Chief.
