Re: 21' with 4.3 or 5.7 first boat

I have a heavy 18.5' Chaparral with the 5.0 L 220hp carbed V8. I have taken 6 CHUNKY seniors out in it. NO TRIM TABS ! I tilt drive in a hair. WOT. 2 seconds into the climbout, I trim to the indicated trim dot in the guage. We are on plane & picking up speed quickly. My boat with lots of anchors & lines goes 3500 pounds. 38 gallon fuel tank is full BEFORE I take people out. 5.7 L V8 is ideal for that size & load of people. I have made 2 trips if I have too many people. Be smart do not overload the boat & engine so.
" WE ALL HAVE TO BE TOGETHER. " I tell those guests.
Rent a bigger boat. I want to be a passenger to.

If you EVER DO pick a SMALLER boat engine for a boat to save gas money.................YOU WILL BE SORRY.
Pick a pontoon to save gas money with 5 or more people. Speed never enters anyones mind on them. Talking, eating & drinking are the big thing.

A V hull with a good sized V8 is a good all around boat to do a lot of everything. If you like 45 to 53 mph @ WOT? Pick the big V 8.

Otherwise you join the fast tugboat guys.

Yeah. Water temps are 45-50?. If you go swimming, you are literally numb-nuts.

Yep, its been between 60 and 80 degrees here in MN for almost two weeks but they put out a warning today about the cold water issue. Every year somebody without a life jacket falls overboard and dies when the water is cold like this. Normally I'm still snowmobiling on frozen lakes this time a year so actually having the ability to take the boat out is literally amazing.

i hear they got pontoons that go 70-80 and turn hard the three tube ones so i did think about it but they are still pontoons
although it would be fun/funny to try
