I have a 20r72r Johnson that has set up for years that I am trying to get running. Let me start by listing what I have done so far, 1. New tank and all fuel lines replaced. 2. Replaced points and condenser and tested coils for continuity. 3. Rebuilt carb, knocked out all soft plugs and blew out w/ air and carb cleaner, and set float, twice. 4. I took the fuel pump apart and cleaned it out, some of the diaphragms were old looking. 5. Replaced the hose from pump to carb w/ clear hose. Now my problem. The motor runs pretty good at idle and wot w/ the hood off. I adjusted the idle mix screw w/ hood off to where it should be, when I put the hood on it dies. I adjusted it to where it was leaned out, popping a little, and put hood on it idles good, but it loads up the w/ more throttle. If I run it at wot and let it load up, it will die w/ hood on, open it up and there is no fuel in the line to the carb. I also noticed air bubbles in the line to the carb while running w/ hood off. Any help would be appreciated.
