#9 passes all the post-race inspections and engine tear down.

Chase Elliott is the 2020 Cup champion after a hellish year.

If I said I knew what happened there, my nose would be hitting the screen.

Couple of lasts thing to close the season;

  • Driver movement all over the place. Switching teams, moving up from Trucks to X-Men and X-Men to Cup. It will all be sorted by Daytona.
  • Phoenix TV ratings from Jayski;

    Sunday’s telecast of the NASCAR Cup Series finale on NBC averaged a 1.87 Nielsen National rating and 3.063 million viewers. That was a solid increase over the 1.63/2.6m that watched this race last year when it served as the penultimate round, although down from a 2.24/3.7m for last year’s finale at Homestead (both races also on NBC).

    The Xfinity Series finale at Phoenix on Saturday averaged a 0.59/980,000 viewers on cable network NBCSN.

    The Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series finale posted year-on-year gains on both its Phoenix and Homestead equivalents. Running Friday night on Fox Sports 1, the telecast averaged a 0.29/493,000 viewers.
  • NASCAR is the only major U.S. professional sport to complete a full season during COVID-19. To accomplish this it:
  • Completed 90,391 health questionnaires
  • Took 102,347 temperatures using 205 thermometers
  • Bought 84,100 masks
  • Bought 64 gallons of high-grade disinfectant solution
