Jimmie Johnson missing his first Cup race, ending his streak at 663 consecutive races. Why? He tested positive for COVID after his wife was found to be positive. He will need two clean tests before Nascar will allow him back, so Kentucky and the All-Star race is also in jeopardy. Justin Allgaier will drive the #48 in his place. Johnson will also miss a chance to drive an Indy car next week.
Jeff Gordon has the most consecutive Cup starts at 797, JJ leads active drivers at 663 and Harvick is next on the list, sitting at 656 including Sunday's start.
This weekend we'll have Cup on Sunday on the left-turn only and for the first time ever, X-Men will be turning right and left on the Indy F1 road course. I call it the F1 course because it was built for F1 races from 2000-2007. X-Men had two practice sessions today.
Tomorrow has a chance of afternoon showers and Sunday looks good. Famous last words. X-Men should have wipers and rain tires for a road race. MRN's schedule for Saturday and Sunday for both races on NBC;

- Indy will have limited fan attendance - Approximately 50% making this the largest numbers of fans since Nascar returned in the age of COVID.
- This is the first time for Nascar to race at Indy on a 4th of July weekend. Normally we would be watching the Firecracker 400 at Daytona, but nothing is normal this year.
- This is the 27th running of Cup racing at Indy, first was won by Gordon in 1997. Where did the time go?
