Can someone help me identify the correct oil filter for this engine? Would also like to have a recommendation on oil weight and brand along with brand of filter. I bought this boat new last year and only have about 30 hours on it. I believe it came with 30 wt in it as the oil pressure acts like a single weight when the engine gets hot and goes down to 10 or below lbs of pressure. I prefer a multi-grade if possible.

Thanks

The 4.3 has always been a Chevy V6.

Merc have been using the 4.3 l V6 (in all it's various guises) as a marine engine since 1985.... Still one of the best engines out there...

Have a close look at the engine and you'll see it started life as a 350 with the back 2 cylinder dropped off. Runs the same pistons, rods, water pump and all the other stuff. It now sports a balance-shaft to counter the inherent imbalance of a 90? V6...

I like to use the K&N HP-2001 filter. The filter media is pretty stout within it, identical to the merc unit, but there is more of it as it is a few inches longer. :)
