200hp johnson hard to start

My primer solonoid on my 1989 200hp johnson is not working. I tried iboats parts cold not find it.

They have the rebuild kits for them if not let me know i will give you another sourse for them

go into the parts forum on here its called johnson service valve kit comes with everything but the housing body

If you hear it click, open it up and check the internal filter as it may be clogged....

no click, can not find this part. primer choke is what i need.

Check to see if your getting voltage to it when you press in key as it may be a bad keyswitch, also check ground wire. If it is bad it is part number 397909 and is not cheap.You can order it from boats dot net...

Better do some more troubleshooting as Fazt says.

It is a VERY simple circuit, and can easily be tested with a test light.

Shotgunning that part is expensive.

Yes, definitely find out what's going on before dropping money. It's just as likely to be a bad keyswitch or a wiring problem as it is a bad primer solenoid.

A little off the wall I know, but I have seen some salt water mtrs where the plunger in the primer solenoid would freeze up and not open the primer valves. Just a thought.
