2000 200 hp. NO oil warning. Buzzer and dash light. Checked oil is in the tank. Checked oil primer ball was hard. Disconnedted oil line from oil tank to oil lift pump and squeezed oil primer bulb... oil came out. I replaced the oil lift pump. Same problem. I diconeccted the return line and started the engine. Oil squirts out. How much?? Filled the bottom of a water bottle about 1/2" in 2-3 seconds. [ should have done this first ] I disconnected the oil pressure sensor hook up an ohm meter. It reads 0 ohms with engine off. Start engine goes to infinite [ open ] ohms almost instantly [should have done this first! ] re-connected the oil sensor wire. With EV Diagnostic software hooked up with engine off in 'monitor/ mode oil pressure okay. Start engine and after a few seconds the oil pressure warning comes on. WTF?? I replaced the oil injector assembly with a brand new OEM unit $350... only because I had happen to have this in stock. Didn't think it would make any change and of course did not. I also had a back up EMM. I copied over the injector data ... started the engine. SAME PROBLEM!! No oil alarm. I bought a brand new oil pick up assenbly and connected to he harness and set it upside down so it would read full. Just testing the low oil sending in the oil tank here. Same problem. So... I am at a total loss. Only thing I know to try is to actually install the actual oil pick up assemble ad primer hose... it sure doesn't seem plugged as I can pump oil out the other side by hand... but perhaps there is just enough of a restriction to cause an issue? I took it out screen looked okay. The real stumpier is the oil pressure sender on the lift pump seems indicate it sees pressure andntells the EMM that and YET,,, I get the low oil pressure on the software. Two codes... lift pump not primed and Low oil pressure ... if anybody has any ideas I would SURE appriciate it. I don't know what else to look for. Makes no sense. no sense. oh... codes are 39 oil pressure switch no prime and 38 Oil pressure switch NO PRESSURE [ I can't read the rest... I think from searching it's can't detect pulses ] Oil injector is clicking when I do the oil injector static tect .. but oddly no oil coming out in throttle body??? hmmm Clue??

Does the oil pressure 'sensor' not just detect ON or OFF ohms but pulses as well??

There is a pressure regulator in return line ..basicly a restrictor

no expert on ficht but I suffered years of "start up" code 38 NO OIL on my 75 ETEC (2005)
all fixed up by a BRP upgrade on the pump and sotfware load .
if you visit the ETEC owners board and search CODE 38 tons of info

code 38 are basically missing impulses from the oil sensor back to the EMM

I doubt your EMM SW went bad just on sensing oil pulses so that leaves wiring (check all access points with ohmeter) , oil sensor and...missing pulses (maybe a weak oil pump) ..

stuck air bubbles and loose/crimped oil lines are also mentioned (??voltage on the pump )

on my 75ETC the pump was replaced as part of the cure along with a SW with a less "intolerant software" calculating missing pulses over XX time value (my understanding of it all anyway) .

have you tried simply replacing the sensor ? oil pulses are fast but if a friend has a oscilloscope maybe you can "see" what is happening on the sense wire ...but bad sensor or weak oil pump may be the issue here.

here is a good story..

Well here's the thing. My original EMM didn't give any no oil codes it just would run for a few seconds and shut off. I replaced with a newer EMM I replaced all the oil components only to find out I'm pretty sure the reason for the no oil warning is the replacement EMM I got on ebay is from 2002 not 2000 and they use a different sensor. I didn't know this and thought the 2002 was simply smarter and could tell me the problem the 2000 didn't. Turns out the 2002 has the sensor on the injector itself and uses a totally different sensor. two wire harness not just one wire. So I'm currently trying to figure out if I can change my 2002 225hp EMM to be used on a 2000 200hp. I know it's possible but so far I've had no luck. I did the injector data swap no problem But I think the EMM still is expecting a different look from the oil sensor and that's my problem. If you look at my other thread 'EMM question that's where I am now. Thanks for the detailed response I appreciate it. BTW I contacted DFT twice no response I don't know if they are still around or what..

the folks on the ETEC board concentrate on ETEC only but.. maybe you can ask if there are any former...FICHT experts to help out .
