2008 Q5i Smart Tab install...

I've looked at the following links:

And have yet to find a quick answer. I purchased the Smart Tabs and am having trouble finding a pure "flat" surface in which to mount main brackets (2008 Q5i). I can "bend" the main mounting bracket by about 1/8" but don't know if this is the solid answer.

Can anyone offer their quick advice -- can I slightly bend the mounting bracket to follow the contour?

Called Nauticus and spoke with both John and Greg. They said "do not" bend the bracket. Instead, what I'm going to do is use a rubber backing where the gap is located.

If this ever becomes a problem for anyone else, I'll send pics.
