I'm new to this forum and would like to say hi to my fellow Tahoe'ers. I have a 2008 Q5 Fish and Ski which I bought new. We purchased the boat and did notice some imperfections in the finish of the boat. I believe that it makes a HUGE difference on who your dealer is. We bought from Western RV in Wetaskwin Alberta.(Now moved to Red Deer). One imperfection was brought to my attention before I even saw the boat and I was offered a price reduction or a new deck lid. I took the new lid option which was delivered at no charge to my house. I installed it myself as it took less time to do it than having to take it somewhere to have it done. The other minor things were taken care of at no charge at my choice of repair shop.
The boat is very comfortable and my family loves it. I may have to change my prop as it doesn't have a good hole shot for skiing. I do have some wandering when in a no wake zone but not serious.
I would like Tahoe to provide a solution for storing my portable seats in the engine compartment. I don't like the idea of them being loose in there as they might slide up against the engine or just get scuffed up. Would be nice to have a bracket or mount to store them.
Also I wonder if some one would know how to mount fishing rod holders such as the ones on the Q7 Ski Fish (see photo). I can't screw into the side of my boat as it is only single ply. Also the compartment is fully carpeted up the side.
All in all we love our boat and have people coming up to us saying how much they like the looks! It is sharp!

I am not sure on how you would mount the rod holders that are in the picture. I mounted some vwery similar that I purchased from the local Wal-Mart. You need to be very careful mounting them due to the single hull layer. I attached mine with small screws that basically just attach to the carpet. They do not need to hold much weight. I am sure others may have a better soulution.
As for the hole shot. Take a look at my post in this forum on installing the trim tabs by Nauticus. They improved my hole shot greatly and cured the wandering too.
My seats on my 2006 aren't the same configuration. But maybe a bungee cord system would work.
Enjoy!

After seeing the photo I want the rod holder too. I'm thinking a good Epoxy adhesive will bond to the hull - I think I can cut the carpet from under the holder - get down to the fiberglass and attach with adhesive... anyone with recommendations on the right adhesive?

In regards to the rod holders I did contact Tracker Marine and received a part # for the holders. It is Part # 151397 and costs about $40 US. I am waiting to hear back from Bass Pro shops in Airdrie AB as to their costs. I think they will have to be epoxied in.

I have the Q3 f/s and put my rod holders in the ski locker,They slip over two ss screws and the weight holds them in works out real good. And as for big fish (stripers) I put a Tupperware type tub that just fits in the ski locker,it keeps all the slime and stuff in so I can dump it out later. My boat in in a barn other wise I get pics to so you all,but it will have to wait for a few weeks to get the snow going and me out of the hosp.

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like a good idea. My Tahoe has mounts located in there for my paddle, light poles and seat pedestals.

I used epoxy to glue velcro to my carpet on the side, then glued the other half of the velcro to the back side of my rod holders (they're very similar to the picture).

I used the velcro in case I needed to remove the holders, since epoxy will be there longer than the carpet. The velcro is also plenty strong to hold the holders and the rod and reels.

I hope to be at my boat later this week, and I'll try to get pictures.

The Q7 and other boats that have factory installed rod holders have a piece of wood added in that area for mount purposes, other wise the screws will go thru the side of the boat.
