2008 Honda BF150 - Stop Override

I have a boat with a Honda BF150. I'm having a problem with it turning over and not starting. I've ran through the usual culprits and can't find the problem. I bought the boat last year knowing it needed some work, but the engine ran fine. This boat has a fly deck with controls. The control panel with the igition switch has the usual indicator lights but it also has a light and button for "Stop Override". I have searched and search and cannot find any information about what function this provides. The light is lit and it has instructions to press the button before starting if the light is lit. The button doesn't seem to do anything. Since I can't find information on it, I don't know if it's my problem. Does anyone have any information or experience with this? Best I can find is that the part number for the indicator set is 36552-ZW7-621AH.

Guessing the Emergency Stop lanyard on one of the "stations" isn't in place.

Have you tried cranking the engine while you push the button in?

I’ve disconnected the wires on both lanyard switches thinking that was the problem with no success. I have pushed the button and nothing happens. The light stays on and still doesn’t start. Tried getting codes from the ecm (with the jumper technique) but get nothing. When I turn the switch on the MIL light comes on for a couple seconds and I get two beeps. Is there a way to tell if the ECM is telling the engine not to run vs tracking down a spark or fuel problem. I know it’s getting fuel, but I don’t have a way to check that it’s the correct pressure.

The MIL comes on because one or more conditions of “Start” have not been met

Two beeps tells you the ECM has gone through its checks and is operational
Is there a way to tell if the ECM is telling the engine not to run vs tracking down a spark or fuel problem.
A disabled stop circuit will not allow it to crank w/o being reset
I know it’s getting fuel, but I don’t have a way to check that it’s the correct pressure.
Doesn’t sound like a fuel issue

The panel simply ties the two stop circuits into over. Pull either lanyard off and it shuts down both motors.

Guessing there is a relay tying the two circuits together somewhere and the override button resets the relay

Make sure both lanyards are installed at both stations and trace out the circuit with your meter

Thanks. I think you're right. Mapping out the wiring to see how the kill switches and the stop override buttons map back to the motor is the next step. It's small houseboat (Adventure Craft) with all the wiring harnesses running in the walls, so it should be fun. Thanks for your help!

I did a lot of wire tracing this weekend. The kill switch wiring is definitely shorted. It's somewhere in the wiring harness. I couldn't find a relay so either there isn't one or it's somewhere in the harness. I was able to remove the kill circuit wire (black with red stripe) from the connector from the boat to the engine and it fired right up. I'm not sure what the solution is to the wiring besides replacing the wiring harness which would be a significant $ and time investment.

Which wiring harness.......in effect you have three harnesses if still using the dual station configuration.

Have a hard time believing you had 3 harnesses go bad at one time.
In an effort to isolate the short to a particular harness. I would scrutinize the two switch panels, paying particular attention to the operation of the kill switches themselves. Could just be a stuck switch actuator
