Lost power while wide open. Bogged down for a minute then regained power for a minute then bogged down again. This continues. I determine that it runs better trimmed up for some reason. Now it Barely runs in idle. Dies when put in gear unless trimmed up. It runs perfectly in idle and in gear trimmed up but will die within seconds of trimming down.

I replaced plugs, fuel filter, fuel line, bulb, fittings, and fuel tank. I'm thinking fuel pump because I can't hear it kick on but the filter is filling up so I'm scratching my head.

It's a new boat for me and I'm not at all knowledgeable about it so I'm looking for suggestions before I go to the shop with it.

( I have no diagnostic software so I'm just trying the things that seem obvious first)

Probably the vst or something but best to go to the E-tec web site and read their posts or make one ...

Google barnacle bills E-tec and it will show up.

I wouldn't run this motor until it's fixed

could be lots of things and if you plan servicing that ETEC get the EV diagnostic software to help out.

A sane EMM can only mess you life if it detects a sensor fault or various specs out of range incl shorts and opens on inj and plugs , voltage levels, position sensors on the throtle position or crrnk position sensors etc...
download you manual for you engine size ???

so.. you need to separate emm factors from simple plugged up injectors, bad fuel pumps., filters ...anything having to do with fuel flow issues which the EMM DOES NOT MONITOR.

Visit the ETEC board hassuggested !

Thank you. I broke down and took it to a tech. Tons of codes popped up. We determined the battery was insufficient. Once it was replaced he was able to reset things. Only code left indicated #2 injector problem. I hope that will solve the issue.

depending on inj. type it may be difficult to find one. contact Barnacle Bill.

inj codes are... OPEN or SHORTED so inspect wiring before spending big $$$$

get a PDF copy of the EMM log dump and post it on the ETEC board for expert analysis...

tons of codes does not mean much ...codes may be old codes and dated back to 2008 and no longer relevant to your main issue ... INJECTOR code
