Hi everyone,
Just recently purchased my Tahoe Q4S and so far, so good performance-wise. I've just been trawling through the forums and reading a few horror stories regarding Tahoe, so I'm holding my breath nervously, now! One thing I have noticed is that the speedo doesn't seem to work - anyone else experienced this? I appreciate it could simply be a fuse or something, but I just thought I'd check with other Tahoe owners first to see if they've had the same problem

First question , is this a used boat. First thing to check is , on the back side of the drive opposite the prop is a small notch this will be your speedo pickup. Try to use a small wire , paper clip will do. Lake and river water have just enough debree to accumilate in the hole. After cleaning you can blow low preasure air while someone watches the gauge to see if it moves. It works on direct water preasure and not fused.Yuo can also just use a spray nozzle on a water hose to wash out the hole.

Excellent - thanks for the quick response! (My boat is a used 2007 model, imported new into Canada in 2008, btw). I'm going out on the lake later on today so I'll give it a try and let you know!
Thanks again for your advice. :)

Since your in Canada I'll post this....

I boat in the Kawartha Lakes and had the same problem due to the weeds. Basically they end up wrapping around the prop and skeg giving you a false reading. Now and then hit it in reverse to clear the weeds.

I have a newer model 2010 Q4SF and my spedo isn't accurate at all (says pretty much zero) until I hit about 15-20mph. I pretty much ignore that and just use my much more accurate GPS reading.

I would agree and say use the GPS. Mine does not work all that great at all. Yesterday we had a perfect day for the lake. No wind and we had the lake to ourselves. Really pushed the boat across the lake at WOT. I was getting readings from 55 to 45, all while not touching the throttle, it was holding speed. When I would trim down or throttle down it would jump back up to 55 then go down from there.
I would not count on a true reading at all from the speedo. Get a GPS and stick with that.
