Hi all, just looking for some assistance in taking apart the cockpit drain. Bought my boat end of last summer and have noticed that water is not draining from the floor area very well. I have tried running a snake from the bilge end of the hose back up to the drain as trying to unclog it at the drain with coat hanger, haven't had luck with either. Also tried a pressure washer and compressed air. I have taken the cover off and when I try to pry off the black plastic drain piece I meet with alot of resistance like its also fastened from the bottom of the floor? Any assistance in how to get at the bottom of the drain is greatly appreciated.

Ok, I've answered my own question. I took off the base plate for the table which gave me access to the bottom and was able to spin off a nut that holds it in place, much like a thru hull fitting. Unfortunately somewhere along the line Tahoe has secured the hose underneath the bench seat and now I can't pull it out. Nothing can be easy.

Potsy,

the cooler area and porta potti area in my 228 did not drain very well out the thru hull also. What I found out was that the drains were actually lower than the thru hull! I cut the tube and let it drain into my bilge. It works much better and I use the bilge pump to clear out any excess water.

On the Q7 I would think twice before doing as the 228 fellow did, your boat will sink. The 228 has shutoff valves to keep water out after he cut his hose.Your thru hull is below water to where his is not.

Thanks guys, the drain for the cockpit went to the bilge anyways so I didn't have to worry about that so much. Just have to find the right cockpit drain and run some new hose to the bilge. Thanks again

I was never able to pull the hose out from underneath the bench seat. What I ended up doing was snapping the plastic drain in half as I didn't have enough access to cut the hose at the base of the drain. I'm now going to have to install a new drain in the floor, just waiting for the right part. Best of luck all.
