Here's my saga. Hope someone can help because I'm not sure my mechanic is being truthful.
Motor was running great. Had a couple of episodes while on the water where it would shut itself off while on plane. No alarms. Did this a couple of times and would always start right back up and go. On the last outing, it started sputtering on restart. Took it in and the mechanic told me the piston in cylinder one was burned. Only code was 0 compression on cylinder 1. They rebuilt the engine ( I insisted they find what caused the problem, not just fix what was obviously broken) and tested it a couple of hours and returned it to me. I ran the boat a total of 3 hours over several weeks time and the exact same problem occurred again. Not wanting to take any chances, I shut the boat down and returned to the ramp via trolling motor. Took it back and I have another burned piston, same cylinder. I know its a long shot, but I'm throwing this out there to see if anyone has had a similar experience and what the solution was. Mechanic is certified Mercury guy for what that's worth.
