Launched it at the ramp today, started up first try after sitting for 2 years, but no water. Let it run a few minutes and nothing. Went home, dropped the lower unit, checked the water pump- looks good. Hooked up hose to flush attachment, water not coming out of outlet port on back of engine. It does come out of the inlet tube from the pump to the engine though. At first thought it seemed like that tube just wasn't seated in the pump, because when hooked up to the hose, the water was filling up the lower unit. Tried unclogging it with a piece of wire from the outlet port in case there was some blockage, still nothing.

Where does the top of that tube end up? Do I have to crack the head in order to get to it? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Alex

Might check the pressure control valve; I had one partially stuck open and it resulted in a weak telltale. Did you run the wire just through the nipple on the tell tale or clear up into the cooling jacket? I've had them plug up there too.

I only ran the wire through the nipple until it wouldn't go any further, which didn't seem too far (maybe 6 inches). Where would I put the wire in in order to get it into the cooling jacket?

thanks for the response!

Follow the hose back to the metal engine case. pull the hose off there blow air through the hose to check that it is clear. If it is run your wire gently into metal cooling jacket. I recently had one that wasn't flowing there and found the restricted area where it hooks up to the hose to be clogged. I used a small jewelers screwdriver to gently whittle out the block. Put it back together and the voila.... she pees. Give it a shot.

You don't have an alarm going off right?

Thanks for the replies, but still no luck. I think the hose that comes from the "tell tale" came disconnected somehow, because I've tried and checked everything else. Looks like that hose goes up inside somewhere in the cooling jacket, so I can't find or get to it. Waiting for the service manual to come in the mail before I start tearing it apart anymore.
