This is just a hunch, based on something very similar that happened to me a while back. Search my name "C-17 Pilot" for a discussion on what I had.
Check for water in the gas tank. A quick fix is to purchase and put a can of SeaFoam in your motor. It's sold at Wal-Mart here locally. I put a can in the tank each time I fill up. In addition, I'm sure you're familiar with StaBil. Try putting in the recommended amount.

Bottom line, to me, it sounds like you got some water in your gas line keeping your engine from igniting. Most likely, you bought some tainted fuel. Now, before I put any gas in my boat, I'll ask the vendor's if the station tanks are less than 1/4 empty (the local Texaco here can tell us). If so, I go to the next station.
Also, since you did by a used boat (like I did), it may be a good idea to check out the fuel filter as well. The previous owner may or may not of changed it out.
