I am the original owner of a 2006 Q7i. I have regular maintenance done by a local dealer. About 4 weeks ago I had a problem occur which is with an audible solid sound alarm. This alarm has always sounded when I turn the key on but BEFORE I start the engine. As soon as the engine started it would go off. One day about 4 weeks ago it didn?t go off it just kept blaring. We brought the boat on plane and hit open water that was a little choppy and it stopped. When we hit the no wake zone and had to slow down it started back up again. Later in the day it just quit for the rest of the day. Next weekend out similar results except now it stays on sometimes on plane. It seems to go on and off sometimes when we hit choppy water (almost like a short) but other times the behavior is not like a short, such as will stay on at low speed and not at high speeds.

Any help would be appreciated.

Only 3 things cause this alarn to function. Engineoil preasure low, water temp high, which would be above 180 degrees, and your stern lube bottle low on oil. The lube bottle has a float switch inside the bottle. The lowest your oil preasure should be is abt. 45. Watch the oil and temp gauges when the alarm sounds. The lube oil bottle may be just low enough to sound the alarm on and off as you experence, the float bouncing up and down. The wires from the lube bottle are very close to your power steering pully, check that they are not against the pulley.

There is also a warning that sounds prior to starting the engine. I would check under the dash for a loose wire on the key switch or the alarm itself.

Thanks for the feedback. We went out this weekend and sure enough the stern drive lube bottle was low. We filled it to the operating level and that solved the problem.
