Getting spark,as tested with inline spark plug tester. Does this mean that my kill switch, coil and CDI are good? When I pump gas tank bulb, gas comes out if the tube on top of the carburetor. Also fuel pump is leaking a little. Any help much appreciated.

Maybe. Fuel pump should not leak, did you try to tighten it?

Are you choking the motor when you try to start it? Have you tried a short blast of starting fluid?

When was this motor last run?

Yes, I use the choke. No I have not tried starting starting fluid. How would I get it into carburetor?

The motorwas last run about September last year. Before the non start issue, I was on the water and the motor revved up to what seemed liked super high rpm. I was working on trying to solve the rpm when it stoped starting.

It ran good until I was on the water in about September, and the engined revved up to super high rpm when I started it after fishing a while. I was trying to figure that out when it stopped starting. No, I do not run fuel out of carburetor, as I fish year round here in Texas.

Engine rpms running up super high on its own might not be to good.

Have you done a compression test?

??----Super high RPM- ?-----Could be an issue in the lower unit.-----High RPM may have done damage to valve train.----Sheared flywheel key.-----Time to do some inspection.

I have not found a diagram showing the location of the flywheel key or the shape. Is it a cylinder or like a half moon?
