Hey guys, I'm having a head-scratching moment with my 2006 50 hp 2 stroke mercury and seeking some advice. This motor sat idle for about a hear or so. I took it out and it cranked right up. Came out of the wake, and idled it up. After about 100 yards, it started bogging down bad to the point it just died. Then at very low speed it would run a bit and die. So, got home and did the following:
-took carbs apart and cleaned up real good using spray carb cleaner
-replaced the fuel line from tank to motor with new bulb (cut open old one and found chunks of rust color particals which felt like rubber/plastic)
-new fuel filter
Took it out today and it was difficult to start, but finally did. Still has a good amount of hesitation when throttling up. It ran better than before, but something still acting squirrely. I got home and noticed some oil on my bottom spark plug, but top one appeared dry. I did NO adjustments on anything during my repair nor when I got back today. Not sure if I need to adjust something, replace something or what. Any advice will be appreciated... I'm no marine mechanic, so feel free to talk to me like I'm dumb!! LOL
Thanks,
Jason
