I have a 2006 Volvo 5.0 gxi-f. I was up on plane the other day and noticed I wasn't quite getting the power I normally do. I tried to trim it out a bit more but once I touched the trim the motor died It did not stall right out but was running real rough and back firing. Once back at dock it would start back up but still had no power and was idling rough and would not get any power. I check the water separator and no sign of water in fuel. It ran like this until I banged the high pressure fuel pump with a pair of pliers and it ran fine again. The next day I took it out it ran fine but I noticed after I was up on plane for a while it was slowly losing a bit of power. I tried to trim it again and the same thing happend. I bang the high pressure pump again and a way it went running good again. I drove it a few more times only adjusting trim when I was starting to get up on plane. Once I was going I knew not to touch the trim even though I was again slowly losing a bit of power. I run a fishing charter business and was trolling a few days later(3 mph). And it started running real rough again. I tapped the high pressure pump again and it would run fine but only for a few minutes and I would have to tap it again. Did this a bunch more times and headed for shore. I need some answers. Please help. I don't want to buy a new pump if it is something little. I sure hope it is.
