2006 15HP 4 stroke Johnson

Just bought 2006 15HP 4 stroke, It was fine when tested at the guy house. First time using it, engine start after 4-5 pulls, after run about 5 minutes black smoke come out the propeller or jet making the water turn kind of gray, then engine vibrate then stop, start again and it does the same. I call the guy and he does not pick up. Any suggestion what is wrong with it. I know very little about outboard already spent $750, how much more would cost to fix this problem? Thanks ahead for any ideas.

750 is 1 heck of a deal i paid 1350 for the same one over the winter. You need to start with the basic tests.
#1 compression check
#2 since it starts i am guessing it has spark. So drain the lower unit oil and check for water intrusion.
#3 i would change the engine oil and put in a new filter. Then put in the water and see if it does the same thing

Sounds like the ---Suzuki built motor----Look for issues with the choke / starter assembly on the carburetor.---Too much fuel going into the motor.----------Start motor and then let it run with fuel line disconnected.--How does it respond to that test ?

Thanks guys, what I did was clean the inside of the motor real good and was checking for any unusual, put all parts back ready to start engine, as I pull the choke and squeeze the gas ( ball pump) on gas line, I saw gas was dripping from engine , some how find out that was dripped from silencer manifold , don't know how it happen put see couple small screw that keep the silencer together was missing. Try to take silencer off did not know I was also unscrew the whole carburetor too.
We'll am takin a break now deal with it tomorrow. After order new manifold of course . Maybe clean carb too. If I remember how to but every back.
I update how it turn out, thanks for all the help and advices.
