2005 Tohatsu 6 hp no forward or reverse

I had to replace my lower end gears. I thought that I put it back just the way that It was. Now I have no reverse or neutral.
I just double checked and the clutch spring retainer is on the spring side of the spring pin. So I think that is ok.......HMMM???? Help would be much appreciated. Thanks,

The spring retainer (short piece of shafting, almost square) rides against the push rod, so it sounds like you have it in the wrong place.

Telling you where to look at a diagram of how it goes together is a one liner...It's the one liner that you needed. Your welcome by the way.
