Hi everyone, I have a 2005 mercury 90 2 stroke which I am having problems with. It is a motor on my grandmas old boat which I had pulled out of a field and it had been sitting for years. (Parked because it was having the same trouble I am having) The motor always starts up super fast and very reliably. It has a moderately rough idle. If i run the motor out of the water I can bring the rpm’s all the way up but it runs pretty choppy. But when I put the motor under a load it has a horrible bog and the boat won’t go over like 10mph. I have now took the carburetors apart three times with no luck of it getting any better. I’ve taken the spark plugs out and they look perfect, and all three cylinders have what looks like to me great spark. I am now very lost and don’t know what to do. Looking up these symptoms keeps giving me different answers just as if I was looking up my sickness on google, it will tell you that your dying but it just ends up being a common cold haha. Any help and information is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Caden. (Below I have attached a video of it running. In the video I was keeping a constant throttle position.)

What is you compression? Have you tested the stator or anything else? Stop revving it in neutral before you wreck it. Does spark jump a 7/16" air gap. Is your fuel fresh? Any water in it? Oil injection checked to be working?

My compression is at 87 on all three cylinders. I have not tested stator or spark plug, I will do it when I get a chance. My fuel is fresh and there is no water. Just installed a fuel water separator filter. And oil injection seems to be working fine.

Checked the flywheel key ?-----Was water pump maintained ?-----I would pull the exhaust cover ( side of the block ) and look at pistons and rings.-----Compression at 87 PSI is not encouraging.

I will check the piston and rings when I get a chance. It will be raining here all weekend. And the water pump works pretty good. But I really don’t know much about how the motor has been maintained through its life.
