What I need is the part that mounts under the seat, front passenger side that keeps the sun lounge seat in its upright position . It is black plastic and has a metal bar. This bar is what fits in the notches in the pedestal that holds the seat in the upright position. This plastic part, with the metal aluminum bar is broken completely off so obviously, the seat wont stay upright. Originally, it broke on one side, then eventually the other.

I am not as upset the part broke as much as I am that I have tried to carefully describe what I need and the authorized dealer (parts dept) and the manufacturer seem perplexed by my description for the part I need. Unfortunately, I am in Ohio and the boat is stored very far away. Also, the dealer is not convenient so I was trying to order online or by telephone. The manufacturer's solution is for me to send them a picture of the broken part. I wish I had thought to take a picture, but because the seat only has one thing attached to its underside, I thought just telling them that would be enough.

The manufacturer sent me a list of possible parts. LOL. I easily eliminated all of the parts on their list but one. They basically sent me a list of parts for the pedestal. The only part the manufacturer gave me that I cannot identify from their website is the 1703110 BRACKET, SEAT PLASTIC BLACK UN500 and I cannot even find a picture (or diagram of it) on Bayliner?s own website to verify that is what I need.

It tells you how much they (Bayliner) really tried to help me. I described the part as being affixed to the bottom of the seat itself and they send me a list that includes a bunch of parts that clearly are not part of the seat itself but the pedestal.

On my boat, this part is stapled onto the bottom of the seat (using a LOT of staples). It has an aluminum bar that is designed to fit inside the notches cut into the pedestal. When this bar is resting inside the notches, it locks the seat in place and you can sit in the seat without fear it will collapse down to the lounge position. If necessary, I will make the trip to see the boat, look for part numbers (again) and take pictures. It is just frustrating that neither Bayliner or their authorized dealer seems too interested in helping me.

Fortunately, I have not had to deal with Bayliner too much, but this instance of contact has been dismal in my opinion. I would rather they say they need a picture or something, then to send me an entire list of parts that obviously are not the ones I am looking for. Then the one part I cannot find a picture of (to eliminate or identify it as the part I need) they cant send a picture either.

Boating in Ohio has its drawbacks. My situation is not that unusual. Boats are stored in the winter time. It is not easily accessible. Unfortunately, the dealer I dealt with locally for years went out of business a few years back and now I must deal with a dealer very far away. But neither the dealer or the manufacturer is doing much to assist in my opinion.

In the meantime, if you know the name of the part, please help me. Also, apply for a job at Bayliner. They are lacking in good employees apparently.

Re: 2005 Bayliner 175BR Seat Repair

Sounds like this is a part of the seat itself, the seat base with the mounts for the slide bar has broken.

I believe you are going to have to tell them that the slide bar mounts on the front seat base of the lounge chair have broken, and you need a new seat base for that front section of your lounge seat.

Be prepared to not get that specific part, as most boat manufacturers will tell you that they don't sell that part individually, and you will need to order the entire bottom seat section for the front, or worse yet they might instruct you that they only sell the whole lounge seat itself as a package (minus the base where it sits on of course).
