Greetings

I am new to this forum and hoping to get some help troubleshooting my 2004 4.3 Lt. V6 alpha.
the boat will start just fine and idle beautifully. when accelerate over 1000 RPM it will run fine for a few seconds then bog down and cut off. If I decelerate before it has a chance to cut off it will keep stumbling in idle and eventually cut off.

If I restart, it will idle fine once again.

I can repeat this over and over again.

Work done; New plugs, wires, rotor, cap, oil, oil filter, gas filter/separator fuel pump.

Any troubleshooting advice will be greatly appreciated.

Do you know if this is 2 bbl carb version or fuel injected - serial number is great if you can provide it.

I am guessing you have a fuel delivery issue or carb that needs cleaning or both.

First as a baseline-I would do some basic checks on ignition timing and check condition of cap rotor and spark plugs, empty the fuel filter into a clear jar look for contamination and water.

Take the fuel line off the carb, put the fuel line into a container-crank the engine over with coil wire grounded or ignition sensor disconnected (you dont want spark while pumping fuel into a jar....). See if you get enough fuel flow and see if there is a clogged fuel filter in carb inlet.

if all that is good get good quality carb rebuild kit from a place like mikes carb parts. Completely strip the carb soak in cleaner clean all passages. A cheap harbor freight ultrasonic works great for soaking and cleaning carb parts

check the screen at the carb. most likely clogged up with something. see if you can gently blow air thru it, if not your gasoline is contaminated.

Checked the screen.

Screen is as clean as a whistle.

Gas is new gas from a portable tank to avoid getting contaminated/dirty gas from a 20 year old tank.

Ordered the rebuild kit from Mikes Carb parts. Going to soak it in BERRYMANS carb cleaner solution overnight. No ultrasonics. dont plan to this again.
Watched Mike's videos and others on you tube on how to disassemble and rebuild. Looks pretty straight forward to me. not rocket science.

Really appreciate your advise.

no its not rocket surgery... just make sure you get all the passages clean, if not you will be doing it again.
