I recently hit some rocks with my 2004 Merc 115 hp,
The Skeg cracked and the prop was hit as well.
I put a skeg gaurd on the broken Skeg & I replaced the prop.
I test drove the boat and was unable to plane or break 10 knots.
After examing the prop I saw that the prop shaft is possibly bent after spinning the prop by hand I noticed it was slighly off.
I have a few questions:
If the prop shaft is slightly bent can this prop be machined or straightened?
How complex of a job is it to replace the shaft?
Does it require several tools or should it be left to a shop to perform?
Also when replacing the shaft is it a good idea to replace any bearing or rings since it will be apart.
