I have a 2004 Johnson 40 HP four stroke that has a brown oily discharge from the breather hose after 5-10 minutes of use. If the hose is connected to the air silencer that goes over the flywheel, it will then down the back into a reservoir and then back into air intake, which then I can not start it.
Since I noticed all the brown oily liquid dripping down, I removed the hose. It spurts out randomly and has air bubbles in it. I have checked the oil from the dipstick and it's full and clear. Can anyone point me in a direction to troubleshoot? Unburnt fuel? PCV?
